Homicide

During the early morning I was very warm so I opened my window a bit. I could hear people talking (I should have looked at the time) loudly, but didn't listen to what they said. At 8:30 I was leaving my apartment to go to work, and heard some people talking about which door to use to leave the building. When I went downstairs to exit the main way, it was all taped off, and said to use the back door. When passing the office, I could hear the manager crying on the phone! What was going on! When I got outside there was caution tape everywhere and cars. And I asked one of the police officers, what was going on. He said that there had been a homicide at 6:30 in the morning and they were still bringing the tarp.. (I suppose that means, the body was still there.). I was going to walk to work, but decided to drive my car instead! When I got to work, one of the doctors looked it up and saw it was a shooting. Others told me I shouldn't renew my lease. It reminded me of when I was in South Africa last year and one of the lady's coming to work at the baby home saw that a teenager had been murdered at the farm next door to us, and she was the one to call the police.
It's a bit sureal, like being in another world. I actually had a pretty bad day at work today as well.
Question is how to be wise, without living in fear?
